Indian team was written off before the world cup because they performed poorly in the test series followed by below average performances in the tri nation series. Unbelievably Indian team bounced back so hard to win all the group matches pretty convincingly and beat Bangladesh in the quarter finals also.
The biggest surprise from the Indian camp was dominating performances from the Indian bowlers. Mohd Shami, Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma consistently took wickets. Ravindra Jadeja flopped so far but Ashwin proved his mettle with good off spin.
Shikhar Dhawan who was out of form before the world cup scored loads of runs for the team. Rohit Sharma was due for a big one and he scored well in the last match against Bangladesh. Virat Kohli has few runs to his name but he hasn't performed to his optimum. If he gains his golden touch in semi final against Australia that would be a big boost for the team. Dhoni and Raina are in good touch and so is Ajinkya Rahane.
For Australia things have been pretty comfortable apart from a tight loss to New Zealand. They defeated Pakistan in the quarter finals. Michael Clarke has got a good support from the whole team so far. Smith has scored consistently. The openers are a bit inconsistent. Maxwell knows just one way to bat. Clarke and Watson seem to have regained their form.
Bowling department looks good with the likes of in form Starc, Johnson, Faulker and Hazlewood. They have Pat Cummins in reserve too. If the pitch supports spin they would be tempted to go for a spinner too.
Indian team are the defending champions and top of confidence so far. Australia has been the toughest competitor for India in the recent past. Will they be the hurdle for India in their winning march of will India nail it to reach the finals again? Wait and watch!
